Courtesy of an update to this post on the Zend Develoer Zone site, there’s a bit more detail from Hannes Magnusson, himself (the developer behind the recent changes to the PHP.net website) in a new blog post on his site.
As many of you know I changed the moving conference announcements and call for papers to its own dedicated page in a desperate attempt to regain the control of our frontpage.

The International PHP Magazine is back this week with the results from their latest user poll that asked the question “Which Stage Comes First in the Development of the Basic CMS?”
Of course, of the options they gave, “Planning your CMS” came in with an overwhelming lead of 60.5 percent of the votes. Lagging far behind that was “Further Development” and “Database creation”. Since the recent release of a new tool from Yahoo! - Yahoo! Pipes - developers have been working with it and creating their own “pipes” of functionality, already exploring the boundaries of the application. Clay Loveless is one PHP developer that has already created his own pipe to monitor feeds from several PHP extensions.
The first pipe I’ve created and published is the PHP Extension Monitor. It’s an aggregated feed that pulls in release information on several cool extensions that aren’t announced in the PECL feed, such as Suhosin, XCache and DBXML.
Check out his pipe here or you can go create your own by logging in with a Yahoo! ID here.
